Tom leads the Global and Large Account CIO and Executive Leader research practice.
Between 2016 and 2021 Tom worked in Gartner Executive Programs, initially as an Executive Partner and subsequently as a Managing Executive Partner, leading the team aligned with UK and Ireland Commercial Large Enterprises. He joined R&A (now BTI) in 2021.
Tom has over 30 years of experience of executive management and strategy consulting gained across multiple industries. From 2000 to 2002 he was CEO of Virtual Internet plc, a publicly traded provider of online identity protection services. From 2006 to 2008, he was Digital GM at the Guardian, using large-scale agile methods to deliver a complete transformation of the company's digital activities, leading to a Webby award. In 2010 and 2012, he was co-creator and COO of J.K. Rowling's Pottermore online bookstore and multiplatform experience for Harry Potter fans, which included forging groundbreaking partnerships with Amazon, Sony and Google. He has advised many other leading companies on digital strategy and growth.
