Frequently asked questions about the Gartner CIO Agenda

The 2024 Gartner CIO Agenda is an annual report with insights garnered from the 2024 Gartner CIO and IT Executive survey. This survey is designed to track how senior technology executives around the globe are balancing their strategic business, technical, and management priorities. The survey was conducted online from March through June 2023. Qualified respondents are each the most senior IT leader (CIO) for their overall organization or a part of their organization (for example, a business unit or region).

The survey gathered data from 2,457 CIO respondents in 84 countries and all major industries, representing $12.5 trillion in revenue/public sector budgets and $163 billion in IT spending.

The survey was developed collaboratively by a team of Gartner analysts, and was reviewed, tested and administered by Gartner’s Research Data and Analytics team.
