生成AIの利用がビジネス環境で身近になるにつれ、事業部門主導のデータ活用はさらに拡大しているが、企業における情報漏洩のリスクも高まっている。しかしデータ保護策が古いままで、新しいデータ活用を前提とした新たな保護策が定まっていない企業も多い。本リサーチノートでは、SRMリーダーがデータ・セキュリティを再構築するに当たって重要となる事項および推奨を述べる。
国内企業のデータ保護策の多くは「境界型セキュリティ」をベースにデータの移動や利用を制限するものであり、情報の流動性が現在ほど高くなるようなデータ活用の場面を想定して作られたルールではない。
事業部門はそもそもセキュリティに詳しいわけではないため、これまでのサイバーセキュリティと同じようにデータ保護を捉えて、データ保護の責任はIT／セキュリティ部門にあり自分たちにはない、と間違った認識を持つことがある。
データの量と流動性が高い環境では、データの棚卸しを実施してもすぐにその内容が変化してしまうため、棚卸しの結果がすぐに陳腐化する。
境界型セキュリティから脱却した後の新しいデータ保護策の策定に当たっては、データの移動や利用を制限することよりも、認証の強化やアクセスの制御といった施策の優先度を上げる。
データ活用の推進に当たり、事業部門がセキュリティの責任を負うべきデータには3種類あることを事業部門と合意する。具体的には、データソース、集約されたデータ、アウトプットされたデータの3つをデータ保護の対象に含め、その責任を事業部門が負う。
手作業でのデータの棚卸しには限界があるため、データの可視化に関連するツールについて、メリットが見いだせる場合には導入を検討する。ただしツールに過度な期待を抱かず、技術の本質や実態を見極めることに注力し、冷静な評価を行う。
