This Consult the Board survey summary features perspectives from 12 Gartner Research Board for Global CIOs members regarding the size and scale of their IT applications landscape. It describes the business capabilities mapped to members' IT applications, tools used for mapping, and resources, such as internal full-time equivalents (FTEs) and contractors, to support these capabilities.

Slightly more than half of the respondents (6 of 11) manage their IT applications based on the business capabilities at a moderate level, without it being a significant focus.
Five respondents each (of 11) map their IT applications to capabilities, such as finance, human resources (HR), and product or service development.
Two-thirds of the respondents (8 of 12) follow enterprise architecture frameworks to map business capabilities and/or IT applications, followed by business capability frameworks (4 respondents).
