Summary
Data is moving across different cloud services and geographic locations, creating security and compliance risks. Security and risk management leaders should review how vendor products can help, because encryption key management products from cloud service providers do not mitigate all risks.

Overview
Key Findings
Data risks are growing across multicloud services due to data residency, data security, privacy and compliance requirements. These risks increase if the encryption keys can be accessed by cloud service providers (CSP), governments and staff across geographies.
Each CSP offers a key management (KM) service, but they operate independently of each other, which increases complexity and inconsistent KM policies. This complexity increases resource requirements and is driving the need for a single KM platform.
The growing KM trust issues are increasing the need for multicloud key management as a service (KMaaS) provided by vendors. KMaaS can integrate directly with CSP
