Eric Hunter is Practice Vice President leading Gartner’s Forecast and Market Share (FMS) practice within the High Tech & Invest (HTI) Emerging Market Dynamics (EMD) organization. With 26 years of experience in research, advisory, and data and analytics, Mr. Hunter oversees a global team responsible for delivering Gartner’s industry-leading market forecasts, vendor market share analysis, and actionable insights to technology providers and investors. The FMS practice is also responsible for the development and execution of rigorous methodologies that underpin Gartner’s market models, ensuring data integrity, relevance, and strategic value for clients navigating dynamic technology markets. Previously, Mr. Hunter led Gartner’s Tech CEO Strategy and Operations team as well as formerly operating as a market analyst across AI development and data / analytics markets and subsegments.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Hunter led data and analytics product teams and strategic architecture/roadmap initiatives for over 18 years in both enterprise and consulting capacities. He supported multiple large enterprises as a senior leader including The Walt Disney Co., Aflac, Honeywell, TBC Corp. and Teradata Corp.
In leading large teams, his technical experiences cover the full data and analytics continuum both on-premises and within the public cloud. Mr. Hunter is an M.B.A. graduate from the Georgia Institute of Technology with an undergraduate degree in computer and information science from the University of Florida. He is also a certified Six-Sigma Blackbelt and project management professional (PMP).
