Raf Gelders has a primary research focus on the evolution of the CIO role, IT strategy, IT operating model design and IT talent and culture.
His current role is as Vice President, Chief of Research in the CIO group, Peer and Practitioner Research. Mr. Gelders leads research projects for CIO clients globally and has led the research behind several of Gartner's flagship Annual Executive Retreats for CIOs. He also leads agenda setting for the CIO Peer and Practitioner research group globally.
Mr. Gelders received the CEB Tech Practice Force of Ideas Award in 2013 and 2016 for his work on digital business transformation. He was awarded the global Force of Ideas Award in 2017 for his work on the new IT operating model for digital and again in 2018 for his work on digital dexterity.
Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Gelders worked as a Research Fellow at the Flemish Science Foundation, during which he pursued a Ph.D. degree in the social sciences.
