GC need to prepare for California Senate Bill 574, which will impose new restrictions on California attorneys’ use of AI in legal work. This increases the urgency to define and document acceptable use of AI within the enterprise and build oversight directly into legal workflows to ensure compliance. Though SB 574 applies only to lawyers licensed within the state, all general counsel should prepare for the “California Effect” on the regulatory environment to create an eventual broader impact.
