John Santoro is a Vice President Analyst in Gartner's High Tech research practice. He helps product managers with product pricing (particularly with the addition of AI and AI agents) and services pricing (particularly the effect of AI on service delivery). He also helps clients with API and MCP product access (having co-authored the API Management MQ for seven years), AI and API gateways, and marketplaces.
Prior to joining Gartner, at IBM Mr. Santoro coded, tested, and deployed applications in order to compare IBM's Cloud and Middleware solutions to competitors such as Red Hat, Oracle, Mulesoft, and Amazon. Prior to IBM, he served as the Product Manager, Chief Architect, and developer of a small startup that was acquired by IBM in 1999. Prior to that, he worked as an IT consultant, primarily focused on transaction processing for financial services clients.
