Summary
AI training, inference and agentic workloads have exposed the “memory wall.” This refers to a technical performance limitation based on finite memory capacity and utilization constraining system performance. While established vendors (including Intel, AMD, Samsung and SK hynix) are building a broad Compute Express Link (CXL) ecosystem, emerging startups are leveraging CXL to build differentiated memory pooling solutions. This memory pooling enables hardware-native fabric routing, dynamic memory allocation and composable infrastructure management. Tech hardware providers that realign product roadmaps to memory-centric design will emerge as the winners.
