Gartner Announces Rankings of the 2023 Supply Chain Top 15 for Europe

Gartner, Inc. has released the results from its Supply Chain Top 15 for Europe, identifying leading supply chain organizations and sharing their best practices. The list was revealed here during the Gartner Supply Chain Symposium/Xpo.

"European supply chain leaders have been put to the test over the past year and a half, with risk management being high on their agendas," said Sarah Gilchrist, Director Analyst, with the Gartner Supply Chain practice. “The top performing supply chains also found new paths to grow and innovate while balancing the very real risks facing their businesses.”

Schneider Electric took the top position both in the European and global rankings this year. L'Oréal, Diageo, Inditex and Siemens completed the top five (See Figure 1). Europe-headquartered Unilever continued to demonstrate long-term leadership as a Master again for the fifth year running.

“Schneider Electric’s performance, particularly in the area of sustainability, is indicative of many of the top European supply chains this year, which have performed particularly strongly on ESG criteria,” said Gilchrist.

About the Gartner Supply Chain Top 25
The Supply Chain Top 25 ranking comprises two main components: business performance and opinion. Business performance in the form of public financial and ESG (environmental, social, governance) data provides a view into how companies have performed in the past three years, while the opinion component offers an eye to future potential and reflects leadership in the supply chain community. These two components are combined into a total composite score.

Gartner experts derive a list of companies from a combination of the Fortune Global 500 and the Forbes Global 2000. In an effort to maintain the list of companies evaluated at a manageable level, a general annual revenue threshold of $12 billion has been applied and companies without physical supply chains are excluded.
