In April 2024, the U.S. DOJ published a final rule that applies web accessibility guidelines to state and local governments, and other public entities. CIOs should immediately assess, plan and implement a comprehensive accessibility program that will meet compliance objectives and timelines.
On April 24, 2024, the Federal Register published the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ’s) final rule regarding changes to Title II of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA), requiring state and local governments to conform to specific web accessibility standards. The rule will impact design, operations and maintenance of existing web content, mobile content, digital documents, new social media posts and digital services already in production or in development, as well as future projects.
