A value-added reseller (VAR) is an organization that is usually part of a sales channel for an original equipment manufacturer (OEM). OEMs make their goods available to VARs at a discount, and the VAR helps to facilitate product sales on behalf of the OEM by adding presales value to the end user (such as facilitating proof of concepts and providing presales engineering and sales support). For these services, the VAR adds a markup to the final sale price of the product.
