While an increasing number of organizations are ready to commit to component-based development, most are unwilling to let their development tools dictate their choice of the component model. These users require a component-based application development environment that does not lock them into a particular technology or infrastructure. One such tool is UNIFACE from Compuware. UNIFACE is an application development and assembly environment for developing, deploying, and delivering complex, business-critical applications from components. It consists of a Component Builder for model-driven component construction; an Assembly Workbench for component assembly, management, and impact analysis; a UML-based Object Repository API for supporting third-party modeling tools such as Rational Rose; and the UNIFACE WebApplication Server. With UNIFACE 7.2.06, Compuware has further enhanced this venerable product's capabilities for supporting e-commerce Web application development and deployment. In addition, legacy renewal and enterprise application integration capabilities have been extended in UNIFACE 7.2.06.
